Snapshots

It was a pretty average day today in the Delighted household.

Agent K and Pirate Boy fought over leftover bacon, like Dickensian urchins who didn't know where their next meal was coming from. But then they laughed together about the funny parts of the Christmas skit they saw in chapel at school this morning.

Agent K's latest nickname for Pirate Boy is "Frosty," as in "the Snowman," because of his puffy winter parka. He hates it. The funny thing is, she outgrew last year's winter coat and told me she wanted "a warm jacket like Pirate Boy's," so I went and ordered her the girl's version of his jacket. Things should get interesting when it arrives on Saturday and she realizes she is also the proud owner of a Frosty the Snowman jacket. I may or may not have already shared that little tidbit with Pirate Boy.

McGyver and Agent K spent most of the evening in a come-to-Jesus meeting/intensive tutoring session due to her latest math grade, and can I say one more time how grateful I am for McGyver and how the best thing I ever did was to marry him, because if I were a single mom, Agent K would be bringing home Ds and Fs because I'm not any better at fifth-grade math than she is.

I'm also grateful for McGyver because he's considerate of my blood pressure and fast-forwards through all the commercials for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie, or should I say "Sherlock Holmes" movie, because don't even get me started on the re-imagining of Holmes as action hero and ladies' man.

There seems to be a big trend on Pinterest lately where everyone is pinning "bucket list" items. Surprisingly, considering I'm such a planner, I don't have any kind of bucket list, and I tend to take life as it comes rather than set goals like that. But I will say that the whole idea seems to be getting a little out of control, like, whatever happened to "skydiving" or "going to Paris?" Every day I see these pins and I think, girlfriend, you're never going to meet Angelina Jolie. And if you're not planning to die until you've had your own clothing line...well, I hope that whole cryonics thing works out for you.

And speaking of getting old, I can't seem to keep my eyes open much past 9:30 pm these days. So, I'm off to bed. Nitey-nite!
